Green Tea

Green Tea has been long valued for its medicinal and healthful properties, especially in Asia, and has now gained popularity in the Western culture. Green tea is an exceptionally wholesome and flavorful beverage, which has a very high content of vitamins and minerals, including ascorbic acid (vitamin C) and several B vitamins. Five cups of green tea a day will provide 5-10% of the daily requirement of riboflavin, niacin and folic acid. Green tea leaves are unfermented, greenish in color; and have approximately 20-30% as much caffeine as a cup of coffee. White Tea

White tea leaves are picked early in the season when the buds are fresh and tender; then the leaves are gently dried. White tea undergoes the least processing - the leaves are simply withered and dried. This method maintains higher levels of antioxidants, polyphenols and vitamins, while also yielding much less caffeine than the other tea varieties. Our exceptional white teas brew to a light golden color with a light, delicate flavor that is sweet and refreshing. The magic in green tea comes from a compound called epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG) which is a type of antioxidant and just one of several polyphenols found in green tea.Green tea polyphenols reduce bacterial and viral infections; they greatly impact chronic degenerative diseases like heart disease, cancer, stroke, osteoporosis, and dementia and much, much more.

HOW TO BREW GREEN TEA:

Producing the perfect cup of green tea is a tricky process. If not handled properly, those same polyphenols that provide health benefits can ruin the flavor, making the tea taste "gassy." It's particularly important not to overbrew. While it's best to follow the manufacturer's instructions for each variety of green tea, here are some general instructions:

Use one tea bag, or 2 - 4 grams of tea,* per cup. Fill a kettle with cold water and bring to a boil. After unplugging the kettle, allow it to stand for up to 3 minutes. Pour the heated water over the tea bag or tea, and allow it to steep for up to 3 minutes. If using a tea bag, remove the bag. Allow the tea to cool for three more minutes. *One to two teaspoons, depending on the variety of green tea you are brewing.
